Turning The Great Gatsby into a 3-D movie? Still a hilariously awful idea. Turning The Great Gatsby into an 8-bit video game? Genius.

In The Great Gatsby: The Video Game you play as Nick Carraway and technically look for Gatsby but mostly just go to parties and kill butlers and flappers with your hat. Just like in the novel! The game ends with you going BACK IN TIME, against the current, in a rowboat. Okay, I made that last part up. The game’s awesome instruction manual is posted below.

Gatsby joins Moby Dick in the pantheon of classic American novels that have been turned into video games. I’m hoping Blood Meridian is next but, then again, I am a psychopath.
